Men of the Bible

(Moses)

God uses men to speak to men: He works through mediators. He could have accomplished the exodus of the children of Israel in a flash, but instead He chose to send a lonely and despised shepherd to work out His purpose through pain and disappointment. That was God’s way in the Old Testament, and also in the New. He sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be the mediator between God and man.

I suppose he remembered how he went before he was sent that other time, and he was afraid of a failure again. A man who has made a failure once is always afraid he will make another. He loses confidence in himself. It is a good thing to lose confidence in ourselves so as to gain confidence in God.

하나님은 사람을 사용하신다. 묵상의 사람을.

단번에 이스라엘 백성을 구해낼 수도 있었을텐데, 하나님은 외롭고 초라한 양치기를, 고통과 실패를 통과한 양치기를 사용하기로 결정하신다.

이것이 구약에서의 하나님의 방식이고, 신약에서도 여전히 그렇다.

하나님은 그의 아들을 죄짐을 진 육신의 모습으로 사람들에게 보내셨다.

모세는 옛날 일을 추억했을 것이다. 자기가 하려고 했을 때 어떻게 실패했었는지..

그래서 다시 실패할까 두려웠을 것이다.

실패했던 사람은 다시 실패할까 두려워한다.

자기 자신을 신뢰하지 않는 사람.

오히려 그런 사람이 희망이 있다.

나에대해 신뢰하지 않고 하나님을 신뢰하는 사람. 하나님으로 인해 할 수 있다고 자신할 수 있는 사람
